Breast Cancer is one of the most common types of cancer. The early detection and treatment of the disease increase the chances of survival and recovery. On that note, spreading awareness about breast cancer is important.
Skyline University College advocates awareness about this disease. To bring this awareness campaign beyond the classroom, the SUC Community Services Team, headed by Dr. Osama Ali Thawabeh, organized a talk at the Philippine Overseas Labor Office, Dubai. Dr. Mendoza-Dreisbach, a Skyline faculty member who herself is a breast cancer survivor, inspired the Filipino community with her courage by recounting her powerful story of triumph over the disease.
At the end of the talk, Labor Attaché, Atty. Felicitas Bay, expressed her gratitude to the Skyline community for its regular support to the Filipino community in the UAE. This event was made possible through collaboration with NMC Healthcare.

In celebration of the World Tourism Day, Skyline organized a panel discussion on the topic of “World Tourism Day –Tourism and Jobs: A Better Future for All.” Industry experts from the Tourism Affairs of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, DNATA, Royal Arabian, Hampton by Hilton, and ITL World were invited to share their insights on the travel and tourism sector.

Mir Arafat Mohammed Monsur won the Gitex DFM Stock Game Competition on October 10, 2019 in Dubai. Mir, together with his mentor, Dr. Nizar Sahawneh, received the award from Mr. Ahmed Aljazeri, EVP and Head of Corporate Services of DFM.

For the last five years, Skyline University College has been participating in the National Service Exhibition. This year, H.E Shk Mohamed bin Suroor Al Nahyan inaugurated the event which opened on October 13, 2019 in Abu Dhabi. His Excellency expressed his appreciation to Skyline executives during his visit at the SUC stand for Skyline’s collaboration with the National Service, especially for the scholarships the university offers to the members and employees of the National Service.

Mr. Sheik Maideen, SUC Head of the Library Department, received the “Best Librarian Award” from Madras Library Association (MALA) in India on August 12, 2019 for his outstanding services, papers presentations, participation in conferences and workshops, involvement in setting-up modern libraries and implementation of innovative library services.

Yesterday, the Skyline community greeted the freshmen with excitement! Dean Prof. Mohammad In’airat; Director of Student Services Affairs, Dr. Osama Ali Thawabeh; and Sr. Events Executive, Ms. Christina Ayub Peter welcomed the students, imparted the mission and vision of the university, discussed the rules and policies, and encouraged students to join clubs and committees as it will further develop their skills and prepare them for the professional world. Skyliners Sanabel and Farah also shared their experiences studying at Skyline.

Skyline University College recently organized the “Changing the Gear” workshop as part of its goal of preparing students for the technology-driven world.
Dr. Ajith Kumar, Head of Academics for the School of Business, inspired students with his speech on the importance of believing in oneself and how to make the most of the opportunities presented by the world. Dr. Petr Svoboda, Lecturer, gave a workshop session on Innovative Thinking. From the School of IT, the Head of the Academics, Dr. Deepak Kalra, and ACCA Instructor, Mohammad Shoaib, talked about the Internet of Things and Careers of the Future.

Skyline University College has renewed its strategic alliance and cooperation with the Directorate of the Human Resources and Emiratisation under the Waffer Program, which was made official through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing on September 11, 2019. H.E. Dr. Tariq bin Khadim, Chairman of the Directorate of Human Resources – Sharjah, and Mr. Nitin Anand, Chairman of the Executive Council of SUC signed the MOU. The event was witnessed by H.E. Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, Director of Strategic Planning, H.E. Jawaher Saif Al Oud, Director of the Waffer Program, and Mr. Firas Al Tabbaa, SUC Deputy Director for the Government and Public Relations.
SUC has allocated a scholarship fund of 15-million dirhams for the government employees under the Directorate of Human Resources and Emiritisation and their families for the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs under the School of Business and School of IT. The two organizations also discussed possibilities of workshops and training sessions to be conducted by SUC for the unemployed as a support for the Emiratisation Program of the UAE Government.
The executives of Skyline University College visited the Chairman of Sharjah Economic Development Department, H.E. Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, on September 11, 2019. Mr. Nitin Anand, the Chairman of the Executive Council of Skyline, and Mr. Firas Al Tabbaa, SUC Deputy Director for the Government and Public Relations, updated His Excellency about the programs offered by SUC under its School of Business and School of IT. SUC also discussed possibilities of conducting workshops and training sessions for Sharjah Economic Development Department.
SUC continuously strengthen its alliance and partnerships with government and private sectors so it can provide better support and assistance to various communities outside the academe.
Skyline University College conducted the SCTDA (Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority) Advanced Tour Guide Training Program from July 18 to 20, 2019 at SUC Campus. The workshop was attended by participants of various professions such as entrepreneurs, dentists, and mechanical engineers in addition to being a licensed your guide.
The program serves as a platform for tour guides having license from other emirates to promote Sharjah tourism. The training aims to update the participants’ knowledge about Sharjah destinations and enhance their tour guiding skills.
In this 3-day SCTDA Advanced Tour Guide Training Program, Skyline faculty members — Dr. Amitabh Upadhya, Dr. Ajith Kumar, and Ms. Rouba Dbouk — gave sessions on various topics that include Embrace Tourism, Golden History of Sharjah, Smile while you are in Sharjah, and sustainable tourism initiatives in the emirate. The workshop concluded with a guided tour at the Heart of Sharjah.
