To improve employee engagement and inculcate the spirit of teamwork at SUC, the Human Resource Department organized a cricket match for its Happy Hour activity this March 14, 2019.
Skyline University College organizes various activities to get students ready for the tough competition of the professional world. On March 11, 2019, Skyline conducted a CV building and professional grooming workshop for students. Ms. Salin Amanda Luis, a Perception Strategist, and Ms. Kavitha Praveen, a Human Resource Manager, gave workshops on CV building and tips on the proper grooming and maintaining of professional appearance in the workplace.
Skyline invited a fitness coach earlier today to teach the faculty and staff to do focus workout sessions. The employees sweated it out with abs exercises aiming to strengthen one’s midsection, planking to tone the glutes and hamstrings, and jumping jack workout to stimulate heart muscles. This fitness workout is part of the 45 Days Road to Fitness activities organized by the Human Resource Department.
Skyline welcomed 150 participants of the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 at SUC campus on March 10, 2019. SUC’s Services Committee, in partnership with the National Executive Committee of the Emirate of Sharjah for the Special Olympics 2019 and Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, organized an interactive day with performances from Skyline students.
Being a member of Toastmasters offers a lot of opportunities for personal and professional development. The regular interactions of members develop their skills to make them confident public speakers and better leaders. SUC’s Toastmasters Club holds regular interactions to give students confidence in giving presentations in front of the crowd and to hone their leadership skills – attributes that will give them an edge when they enter the professional world.
Recently, the members met and gave speeches on the topic of “Smart Goals.”

SUC’s Library department organized a fun crossword puzzle challenge called “Let’s Play Buzz.” The students enjoyed the game and also improved their vocabulary skills. Three winners were given sweet treats as prizes at the end of the contest. SUC faculty member, Ms. Nadine Felix presented the prizes.

Skyline University College’s Debate Club organized the 18th Crossfire Inter-University Debate Competition on February 26, 2019, with the goal of honing the public-speaking skills of the students and developing their confidence to engage in intellectual interactions.
Ten teams from the universities from across the UAE debated on the topic of tech companies having the right to censor media content. The team from Amity University Dubai was declared the overall winner.

Skyline Startup Conclave is an initiative from Skyline University to create a platform for students to interact with startup partners, entrepreneurs, and venture capitalists to learn the process and intricacies of converting new innovative business ideas into profitable startups.
The first edition of Skyline Startup Conclave was held on February 19, 2019. There was an exhibition and panel discussion with Ms. Claire Vincent and Mr. Akshay Arora as the panelists and they shared their experiences and insights with the students. They were joined by faculty members, Dr. Sakthivel A.M, Dr. Ramakrishna Yanamandra. Dr. Kakul Agha served as the panel moderator.
This conclave will be held regularly in order to provide continuous interaction and initiative to generate and nurture entrepreneurial spirit in Skyline students. Eventually, Skyline Startup Conclave will ensure that students’ potential business ideas will become profitable startups under the Skyline umbrella.

SUC alumni from different batches starting from 1995 onwards gathered at Skyline Campus on February 23, 2019 to reconnect. SUC prepared various fun activities and let them take a trip down memory lane over a sumptuous dinner.
The alumni are now key decision-makers in various organizations under different sectors including IT, Travel and Tourism, Finance, Retail, and Entertainment, among others. During dinner, they shared valuable international perspectives and talked about how SUC helped them achieve their career goals after obtaining their degree. The homecoming also renewed the alumni’s lifelong connection to Skyline University College.

As part of its initiative to support SUC employees in reaching their 45 Days Road to Fitness goal, the Human Resource Department invited Ms. Elvie Ochoa to give a talk on how to eat more, but weigh less. Ms. Ochoa holds a Nutritional Consultancy degree from Total School of Nutrition, Alberta, Canada.
Ms. Ochoa emphasized that there is no need to deprive yourself of food. The key is limiting the intake of high-calorie food that causes one to gain weight and focusing on fiber-rich food like vegetables and fruits instead.

The employees of Skyline University College organized the 3rd community outreach program in POLO OWWA (Philippine Overseas Labor Office - Overseas Workers Welfare Administration) in Dubai last February 15, 2019. The objective of the program is to help the victims of human trafficking.
SUC staff prepared food and organized games to bring happiness to the victims and take their mind off their problems. In relation to the signed MoU for International Collaboration between Skyline and Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges (RMMC), RMMC International Alumni Association also supported the outreach program.

To give every club member an opportunity to practice their presentation skills in front of a group, a Toastmasters meeting is organized regularly at SUC. Last week, the club members met and gave speeches on the topic of Cultural Diversity. The club meeting was observed and mentored by Toastmaster Amjad Ali, Area Director at Toastmasters International.
