Authorship Criteria

Substantial Contributions:

Authors must have made substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work.

 

Drafting and Revising:

Authors should have participated in drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content.

 

Approval and Accountability:

Authors must approve the final version of the manuscript to be published.

Each author should agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.

 

Agreement to Be Listed:

All listed authors must have agreed to their inclusion on the manuscript and must have confirmed that the manuscript represents their own original work.

 

Exclusions from Authorship:

Authors who have provided material but have not contributed to the scientific content of the manuscript should be acknowledged but not listed as authors.

 

Changes to Authorship:

Requests for changes in authorship (e.g., order of authors, addition or deletion of authors) after submission or acceptance of the manuscript must be accompanied by:

A clear justification for the request.

Written consent from all listed authors, including those being added or removed.

 

Responsibilities of Corresponding Author:

The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all listed authors meet the authorship criteria.

They should also handle communication between the journal and all co-authors, before and after publication.

 

Acknowledgment of Contributions:

Contributions from individuals who do not meet the criteria for authorship should be listed, with permission, in an Acknowledgments section.

 

Enforcement:

Any alleged violation of these authorship criteria will be handled according to the SBJ’s misconduct policy, which may involve the rejection of a manuscript or other appropriate actions.
