Definitions: A conflict of interest occurs when an individual’s personal, financial, or other interests may influence or appear to influence their actions or decisions in their roles at the journal.
Authors: Must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the results or interpretations of their manuscripts upon submission. This includes any financial, personal, or professional ties.
Reviewers: Are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest with the content of the manuscript or any of its authors that could affect the impartiality of their review.
Editors: Must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could impact their editorial decisions. Editors should recuse themselves from handling a manuscript if a potential conflict exists.
Management of Conflicts:
The Editor-in-Chief will review all disclosures and determine the appropriate course of action, which may involve appointing alternative reviewers or editors to handle the manuscript.
If undisclosed conflicts of interest are identified after publication, SBJ will investigate and may issue corrections, retractions, or other notices as necessary.
Transparency and Documentation:
All disclosed conflicts of interest will be acknowledged and documented in the published article to ensure transparency with readers.
Internal records of disclosed conflicts will be maintained confidentially by the editorial office.
Training and Awareness:
SBJ will provide regular training to editors and editorial staff on identifying and managing conflicts of interest.
Guidelines on conflicts of interest will be regularly reviewed and updated to reflect best practices and legal requirements.
Non-Compliance:
Non-compliance with this policy by authors, reviewers, or editors will result in corrective actions, which may include rejection of the manuscript, termination of review responsibilities, or removal from editorial positions.
