Skyline Celebrates World Water Day

 

Skyline University College organizes World Water Day in the month of March annually for creating awareness on the importance of freshwater and sustainable management of freshwater resources in UAE. Like every year this event is celebrated by the faculty, staff and students at Al Qasba, on 22nd of March, 2016 with great enthusiasm and fervor.

"Better Water Better Jobs" is the theme for the UN World water Day for 2016, Skyline University in collaboration with SHUROOQ. (Sharjah Investment & Development Authority) has organized this event and has gained considerable attention among the community.

This event has generated awareness among the youth of today in conserving water resources and using the water resources judiciously. The event witnessed a number of activities, which include:

    1. A pledge for the conservation of water by the student Representative Neha Swaminathan UN nominee  representing Youth Strategy of UNEP Tunza network
    2. Painting competition by a large number of school students, with ages ranging from 4-13
    3. Awareness walk by students of Skyline University demonstrating the importance of water and its impact all the sections of the society.
    4. Conducted a spot quiz on water conservation, sustainability, water and jobs.

Mr. Sultan Shattaf – Al Qasba Manager SHUROOQ graced the occasion as Chief Guest for this prestigious event.

Speaking on the importance of World Water Day Celebrations Mr. Nitin Anand, Director and Chair of the Executive Council and the dean professor Dr Amitabh Upadhya, Skyline University College, Sharjah said, "We at Skyline University College understand the importance of fresh water and observe this day with all the zeal every year. This year too we celebrated the day and we have undertaken many efforts to save and conserve water in Skyline like water harvesting, installing smart toilets and educating the faculty, staff and students about importance of water conservation."

Dr. Mohammad Abdul Salam, Faculty and Chair-Services Committee Skyline University College along with his team has meticulously planned the event which was carried out by Students Services Committee in a responsible and successful manner.
