The Center for Continuing Learning of Skyline University College (SUC) conducted a training program for Human Resource Department of the Government of Sharjah titled “Accounting Framework.” The virtual sessions were delivered by faculty member Prof. Nizar Sahawneh through MS-Teams from January 10 to 13, 2022.
The course, which amounted to 12 training hours, highlighted various topics that include, but not limited to, the definitions of various concepts in financial accounting, sources of demand, the objectives of accounting and its main functions, identifying the branches of accounting, classifications of accounting information users and their needs, identifying the divisions of business establishments according to their legal form, using accounting principles and assumptions, applying accounting equations, and understanding accounting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
In the panel discussion titled “Byteing the Learning Curve,” which happened during the India Global Forum on December 13, 2021 at Taj Dubai, Mr. Kamal Puri, Founder-Chairman of Skyline University College and Chairman of Skyline International Group, Ltd., spoke about the reasons why Indian students go to the UAE to pursue higher education. He also talked about the synergies in the education space where the UAE and India can collaborate further.

Skyline University College pays homage to the UAE’s rich culture and heritage during its UAE National Day celebration.
The “Year of the Fiftieth” marks the 5th decade since the founding of the nation and the SUC community showcased this nation’s rich culture through performances, traditional Emirati food, and other fun activities for both kids and adults. Skyline also invited Dr. Eng. Suaad Al Shamsi, the 1st UAE Female Aircraft Engineer, to be part of the celebration.

Skyline University College (SUC) celebrated the achievements of 350 students at its 31st graduation ceremony held at the University City Hall, Sharjah, UAE, on November 18, 2021, with His Excellency Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, the Chairman of Sharjah Ruler’s Office, as the chief guest. This was the first in-person graduation since the pandemic. SUC had its first batch of graduates with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology.

By venturing into the car repair business, an industry that has long been dominated by men, Huda al-Matroushi breaks gender stereotypes and has become an inspiration to many women.
Mr. Nitin Anand, Vice-Chairman of SUC and Chairman of its Executive Council, Mr. Rakesh Gaur, Director of Marketing and Communications, welcomed and congratulated alumna Ms. Huda Al Matroushi (Master of Business Administration with Emphasis on Strategic Management and Leadership, 2020) at the campus on May 19, 2021. The executives of SUC wished Huda success in her future endeavors.

The Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai won the trophy during the 5th Diplomat Cricket Championship held on January 29 and 30 at the Skyline University College Cricket Ground, Sharjah.
During the semi-finals, South African Consulate team beat the Indian Consulate team by seven wickets. The other match was played between the Pakistan consulate team and the Bangladeshi Consulate team, in which the Pakistan team won by 14 runs. During the final match, the Pakistan Consulate team won against the South African consulate by 59 runs and lifted the trophy.
Skyline University College would like to thank the participating teams – Consulate of India, Consulate of Pakistan, Consulate of South Africa, Consulate of the USA, Consulate of Afghanistan, Consulate of Sri Lanka, Consulate of Bangladesh, and Consulate of Australia – for giving us thrilling matches these past two days. We’d also like to express our appreciation to the Consul Generals for their support through the five years of the Diplomat Cricket Championship.

A corner of SUC’s library has been taken up by a new staff. Her name is Alexa!
With social distancing measures in effect, Alexa was welcomed by the SUC family in an inauguration ceremony spearheaded by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mohammad In’airat.
Skyline’s Alexa Corner enables students to easily access information about the facilities and services that the library provides. Right now, Alexa can answer various campus-related questions, bring the latest news, give encouragement with its daily quotes, play music, or even crack a joke or two for students who need a good laugh.
Alexa’s skills and responses will be continuously updated to better assist students in various tasks such as book-searching and news retrieval.
Skyline University College is always keen to contribute to the growth of the UAE, particularly through education. Hence, it has been encouraging its faculty members and students to be active in webinars and virtual activities that aim to educate.
We are thankful to the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) for acknowledging that effort by appreciating Dr. Mohit Vij, faculty member, for his participation as the moderator for a virtual session in Sharjah Hospitality Forum 2020.

Skyline’s Guest Lecture is a platform to expose students to the real business environment.
In the recent SUC Guest Lecture, Operations Management students learned insights on the role and importance of operations function in every organization from Mr. Nilay Gosavi, Logistics and Procurement Head, PHOENIX CONTACT Middle East FZ LLC, Dubai. Mr. Gosavi gave a talk on the topic of "Designing Effective Processes.”

Skyline’s FDP (Faculty Development Program) is a platform where teachers learn new skills or hone existing ones. It ensures that faculty members continue to deliver quality and innovative education.
In the FDP held at SUC on March 3, 2020, SUC's Human Resource Department and Teaching Effectiveness Committee invited Mr. Bassel Ajlani, Office 365 Specialist, to deliver a session on Microsoft Office 365. Mr. Ajlani discussed how to use the system and how it can bring maximum efficiency to the work processes of faculty members.
