To enrich the minds of the students and enhance their real-world interactions, Skyline University College invited Ms. Naheed Khan, Co-Founder at Futurwits, an organization dedicated to empowering students and professionals through skill development, to be part of its Guest Lecture Series. During the talk, which happened on February 27, 2020, at SUC campus, Ms. Khan discussed the unemployment rate and how it affects various aspects of society, and she also shared her economic insights, particularly on inflation.

In its goal of exposing students to the professional world and different industries, Skyline University College regularly invites industry experts to give lectures. The recent SUC Guest Lecture, which happened on February 27 at SUC campus, featured Mr. Ramamurthy Venkatesh of NETS International.
Mr. Venkatesh shared insights about the industry to the students. He also discussed digital transformation and successful business models.

Skyline’s Cricket Team bagged the championship title at the 21st Skyline Cup Cricket Tournament and 7th Skyline Inter-University Sports Festival held at SUC campus from February 16 to 27, 2020. Sixteen universities competed in various categories: throw ball, basketball, table tennis, cricket, and football. Skyline was also a runner-up in the throw ball-women category.
Skyline University College, through its Sports Department, organizes annual sports fest to encourage the young generation to engage in sports activities as these bring positive experience and play an important role in a student’s life.

In the recent Skyline Toastmasters Club meeting, which took place on February 24, 2020, the members got the chance to be as creative as they wanted with their speeches as the club went off script. The TM of the day was faculty member and Skyline Toastmasters Club President Ms. Nadine Felix. TM Sahera Al Bashi, from the marketing team, served as the Table Topics Master and asked questions that made members think about their life journey and the way they paint their daily life and future.

Speech contests are a Toastmasters tradition and Skyline’s Toastmasters Club took part in this tradition during the Area 45, Division K, Speech Contest on February 21, 2020, held at Skyline campus. Five clubs in the area competed. SUC faculty TM Kakul Agha bagged the 2nd runner-up position in a table topic contest for her “Turn Your Wounds into Wisdom" speech.
Toastmasters meetings allow people to build the skills they need to become strong leaders and confident public speakers.

Skyline Cricket Team won in the week-long inter-university sports festival hosted by Gulf Medical University, which culminated in an awarding ceremony on February 20, 2020. The Skyline team also bagged the runner-up position in Football. Around 16 universities from the UAE participated in the tournaments for Cricket and Football.

One of the ways Skyline prepares students for the professional world is by inviting guest speakers to share their professional experiences. On February 23, 2020, Mr. Mohab Ayoub, a serial entrepreneur and an alumnus of SUC, was invited to inspire BBA students by sharing his journey as an entrepreneur. Mr. Ayoub gave a talk on managing a business and coming up with strategies.
Skyline alumnus Ali Zaid, Managing Director, who is now a Managing Director at Options Shipping Services, LLC, was invited to speak in front of Skyliners for a guest lecture on February 23, 2020.
Mr. Zaid graduated from SUC with an MBA in Marketing in 2014 and he inspired the current Skyliners during his talk when he shared the challenges he faced and the successes he obtained during his journey as a student and as a professional.
Skyline regularly invites alumni and CEOs for guest lectures to motivate students and expose them to the professional world.
Skyline University College conducts Executive Development Program (EDP) to hone the professional skills not just of senior executives and CEOs, but also of middle level and junior executives in various areas such as customer service, negotiation and leadership skills, finance, and IT, among others. On that note, Skyline organized an EDP on Customer Service and Sales Negotiation on February 20, 2020, at Al Dobowi Group, Dubai. The EDP was attended by 26 executives including Sales and Retail Manager, General Manager, and Business Head.
Faculty members, Dr. Kakul Agha and Dr. Sakthivel A.M., along with the Dean for the School of Business Dr. Ajith Kumar, conducted sessions on customer management, sales strategies, and sales negotiations. The event concluded with a certificate-giving ceremony presided by Dr. Ajith Kumar, Dean for the School of Business, and Mr. Muhammad Rasheed Khalid, Head of Corporate Affairs and Centre for Continuing Learning. The officials from the Management of Al Dobowi represented by Mr. Garfield presented the vote of thanks to Skyline University and its officials for conducting the customized program and gave an assurance to work closely for future training requirements.
The Freshmen were given a warm welcome by the SUC community headed by Vice-Chancellor Mohammad In’airat during the Introbash 2020, which happened on February 19, 2020, at SUC campus. With faculty member Dr. Nizar Sahawneh as the host, the students enjoyed trivia games and Tambola; To cap off the evening activities, everyone enjoyed Middle Eastern dishes.
During the Alumni Lecture, which happened at SUC campus on February 17, 2020, Skyline Alumnus Mr. Moez Tariq Bakhshi, Compliance Officer at Emirates NBD, shared his academic and career journey to the current Skyliners.
Mr. Bakhshi who graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Travel & Tourism in 2011 and also completed his Master’s Degree in Finance in 2015 talked about the importance of planning and creating a strategy in reaching one’s career goals.
The CEO Lecture Series is a platform in which Skyline alumni share their stories to inspire students and give them insights about the different industries.
The Filipino employees of Skyline University College organized a community outreach program in POLO (Philippine Overseas Labor Office) in Dubai last February 14, 2020. The objective of the program was to help the victims of the distressed women and victims of human trafficking sheltered in POLO.
The SUC staff prepared food and organized games to bring happiness to the victims and take their mind off their problems. This 4th Outreach Program in POLO, Dubai, was made possible through the support of SUC executives, faculty members, and the Community Services Committee headed by Dr. Osama Ali Thawabeh. Labor Attaché Atty. Felicitas Bay extended its appreciation to the support provided by Skyline University College to the community.
