SUC Organizes Staff Sports Fest

Skyline University College focuses on employee engagement and well-being. On that note, the Sports Department, headed by Mr. Sanjay Benjamin, organized a sports fest for the employees on July 17, 2019. The faculty and staff competed in various sports — table tennis, carom, chess, billiards, target shooting, skipping competition, and tug of war.


By regularly organizing activities that boost awareness of being physically and mentally fit, employee engagement, Skyline cultivates the spirit of unity among employees and promotes teamwork.

SUC Conducts a 6 day Women Empowerment Training Program

Skyline University College conducted a 6 day Women Empowerment Training Program (Al Jawhara), which is one of the initiatives of SCTDA (Sharjah Tourism and Commerce Development Authority) in collaboration with NAMA, a public non-profit organization for the advancement of women. As part of the program, 30 Emirati women who are fresh graduates were trained in the areas of tourism which will increase the number of women in this sector. The workshops focused on tourism, women entrepreneurship, career path, and harnessing soft skills, among others. SUC faculty members Dr. Amitabh Upadhya, Dr. Ajith Kumar, Dr. Kakul Agha, Dr. Sharon Mendoza, Ms. Nadine Felix conducted the sessions during the program. Mr. Anesh Matthew gave a first aid and safety training to the participants.

Skyline Conducts Student Seminar on Business and Economics

Skyline University College conducted a seminar on “Business and Economics” on July 15, 2019. The participants presented on various topics such as the impact of technology on higher education, societal marketing, women entrepreneurship, effective communication, and real estate in Dubai, among others. 

Mahek Ranpura was declared the Best Presenter and Mir Arafat was declared the Second Best Presenter, both students were supervised by Dr. J. Shanmugan. Mohammad Wasim, supervised by Dr. Haitham Alzoubi, won third place. 

This student seminar was organized by Dr. Gouher Ahmed, SUC's Chair of the Research Committee, with an aim of improving students' academic presentation skills.

SUC Conducts a Drug Awareness Seminar

Drug abuse awareness is crucial now more than ever for the protection of the new generation from addiction. Skyline University College, through its Services Committee headed by Dr. Taleb Eli, organized a Drug Awareness seminar on July 14, 2019, at SUC Multi-Purpose Hall. Key speaker, Mr. Rashed Ibrahim Al-Shihi of the Awareness and Rehabilitation section of Sharjah Police, talked about the negative impact of drug abuse on individuals, families, and communities.
 
Skyline regularly organizes drug awareness seminars and is active in supporting anti-drug campaigns as part of its goal of improving society through education.

Senior Farewell Party 2019

The Skyline community gathered on July 9, 2019, at the Multipurpose Hall to bid their farewell to the seniors. The Events Committee prepared various activities to make the night memorable for the graduating Skyliners. The venue was filled with mixed emotions as students reminisced about their life-changing experience at the university.

Seniors, always remember that the “GOOD” in goodbye is a promise of something better! As you take your new road, the entire Skyline community wishes you success. Make us all proud as you enter a new chapter.

SUC’s SCTDA Workshop

The tourism sector has strong links to economic growth. It creates opportunities for employment and career advancement. On that note, SUC creates a platform for professionals to acquire knowledge and skills relevant to the industry through workshops.

SUC’s Tourism industry experts, Dr. Amitabh Upadhya, Professor and SUC’s Director of Outreach and Accreditation Planning Committee, and Dr. Mohit Vij, Associate Professor, conducted a workshop on Edu-Tourism and its potential in Sharjah. The participants shared new ideas and insights about the industry and emerging trends. This session, which is part of a series of workshops on travel and tourism, welcomed participants from Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA).

SCTDA Advanced Tour Guide Program

Skyline University College is a proponent of lifelong learning. Through its SCTDA (Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority) Advanced Tour Guide Program, professionals who are interested in pursuing or leveling up their career in the tourism sector can learn the trends, update their knowledge about the industry, and acquire new skills.

Skyline faculty members who are travel and tourism experts, Dr. Amitabh Upadhya, Dr. Osama Ali Thawabeh, and Dr. Mohit Vij conducted the workshops with the participation of SCTDA officials -- Mr. Amani Hadi Al Gteli, Manager-Industry Professional Training Department of SCTDA and Ms. Hessa Eisa Al Mutawa, Executive-Industry Professional Training Department of SCTDA. The series of workshops will introduce participants to Sharjah’s travel and tourism industry, the emirate’s rich history, its culture and heritage, among others.

Skyline Founder President Receives Excellence Award at Forbes Top 100 Indian Leaders Award

Mr. Nitin Anand Executive Director and Chair of the Executive Council of Skyline University College received the prestigious Excellence Award at Forbes Top 100 Indian Leaders Award on behalf of Mr. Kamal Puri -   Chairman Skyline Goup & Founder President Skyline University College . The award was given to recognize the passion, contribution and the impact of Indian leaders and industry experts on the advancement of the Arab region. The impressive awarding ceremony was hosted on July 3, 2019, at Versace Palazzo.

SUC Conducts a Refresher Course/Pocket MBA

Skyline University College successfully conducted a Refresher Course/Pocket MBA on June 30, 2019, at SUC campus. The workshop was attended by professionals from different industries and also by students aiming to enhance their knowledge and develop their skills. The one-day workshop covered the following areas: Business Decision Making, Strategic Financial Management, and Marketing Insights. Skyline faculty members Dr. Naseem Abidi, Dr. Manuel Fernandez, and Dr. Anil Roy Dubey conducted the workshop.

Skyline’s Refresher Course/Pocket MBA is a platform for students and professionals to enhance their knowledge and learn about the emerging trends in various industries including business, finance, and marketing. The Pocket MBA was organized by the CCL (Centre for Continuing Learning) Department headed by Mohammad Rasheed Khalid.

Career Choice Workshop for DPS Students

Skyline University College conducted a two-day workshop on “Careers Choice” for the students of Delhi Private School on June 25 and June 26, 2019.


Dr. Nizar Sahawneh, faculty member, shared the trends in finance and accounting with the students, Dr. Ajith Kumar, Head of Academics for Business, conducted an engaging orientation introducing SUC’s School of Business, and Dr. Deepak Kalra, Head of Academics for the School of IT, introduced them to the exciting world of IT. After a tour around the campus, the students had a field visit to the Dubai Financial Market (DFM).

Guest lecture by SCTDA Senior Tourism Consultant

Our faculty members regularly invite industry professionals to share their insights with Skyliners. Dr. Mohit Vij invited Mr. Mohamed Youssef, Senior Tourism Consultant of Tourism Affairs at Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), to deliver a session on “Destination Management” on June 26, 2019.

Mr. Youssef spoke about the role of SCTDA in developing and promoting Sharjah as an international destination worldwide.  According to him, SCTDA aligns its goals and planning with the Sustainable Development Goals of United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and UAE Vision 2021 to develop sustainable tourism, help the community and preserve the environment.

The travel and tourism industry is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world with millions of jobs generated annually. This sector supported 612,000 jobs, or 9.6% of total employment, in UAE, which means that almost one in every ten jobs in the country. With the government’s initiatives to boost the travel and tourism sector, this figure is expected to increase in future.

SUC Faculty Conducted Teachers’ Training at Providence English School

Skyline University College aims to impart knowledge to the community outside of the university by conducting training and workshops to various organizations. Recently, faculty members Dr. Beenu Mago and Dr. John Senior conducted Teachers' Training sessions at Providence English School, Sharjah, with 45 teacher participants.


Dr. Mago spoke about emerging technologies and Dr. Senior talked about the technology to supplement teaching.
