We congratulate the participants of the Al Jawhara Women Economic Empowerment Training Program, an initiative of SCTDA (Sharjah Tourism and Commerce Development Authority), for completing the training conducted by Skyline University College which took place at the Human Resources Authority, Khorfakkan from July 7 to 14, 2019 and at SUC campus from October 6 to 12, 2019. Sixty newly graduated Emirati women received their certificate and tour guide license in a graduation ceremony held on October 23, 2019 at Hilton Hotel, Sharjah. H.E. Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of SCTDA, graced the event.
During the training, the participants learned about the tourist destinations in Sharjah, the history and cultural heritage of the emirate and the UAE, harnessing soft skills, career path plan, women empowerment and entrepreneurship, the changing trends in tour guiding, the essentials of tourism and tour guiding, and first aid training.
Skyline employees were buzzing with excitement during this Thursday’s Happy Hour. Two teams competed for a Treasure Hunt game organized by the Human Resource Department (HRD) to cultivate a culture of camaraderie in the Skyline community and strengthen collaboration between employees.

Students from various Arab and non-Arab schools came to SUC campus on October 22 and October 23 for the Annual Book Fair and Inter-School Competition. With the theme “Year of Tolerance,” students competed in the Poetry, Drama, and Miming categories.
This annual event is organized by the Library Department and English Language Department to strengthen the culture of reading within the local and SUC community.
Inviting experts from different industries to discuss trending topics is an effective way for our faculty members to expose students to the professional world.
On that note, Dr. Paul Katuse, SUC faculty member, recently invited Mr. A.S. Alzarooni, former advisor to the Finance Minister of UAE, to give a talk to his Strategic Leadership class. Mr. Alzarooni inspired the students by sharing his experience as a leader.
As the month-long Breast Cancer Awareness campaign continues, the SUC Community Services team, headed by Dr. Osama Ali Thawabeh, organizes a workshop for the employees of Dusit Thani Hotel in Dubai last October 17, 2019.
SUC faculty member, Dr. Sharon Mendoza-Dreisbach inspired the hotel employees by sharing her story of triumph over breast cancer and giving them knowledge on how to take care of themselves and what to do when they’re diagnosed with breast cancer.
Ms. Vagelyn Tumbaga Federico, the HR Director of the hotel, expressed her gratitude for the informative and educational talk that also enlightened the male employees as men can also develop breast cancer.
The Skyline Toastmasters Club met last week for its first meeting for the Fall semester. The members gave speeches on “Music and Happiness” with Mr. Blesson, Sr. Executive Assistant to the Head of Academics for the School of Businesses, as the Toastmaster of the day.
Skyline Toastmasters Club organizes regular meetings to encourage students to practice speaking in front of an audience and improve their public speaking skills.

Skyline organizes regular health and fitness activities to support employees in reaching their fitness goals. Through its Sports Department, SUC organized a BMI Test, Health Awareness and Check-Up Camp on October 17, 2019, participated by students, employees, and staff.
The Sports Department is also organizing the 5th Edition of its SUC Fitness Challenge. This encourages employees to lead a healthier lifestyle and gives them a chance to win exciting prizes!

The Skyline community officially welcomed all freshmen at the Welcome Get Together, which took place on October 17, 2019, at SUC campus. The freshmen enjoyed trivia games, bingo, and sumptuous snacks. The activities were organized by the university’s Events Committee.

As part of the month-long Breast Cancer Awareness celebration at Skyline University College, the Community Services Committee, headed by Dr. Osama Ali Thawabeh, distributed free mammogram vouchers to the women employees at SUC. This was made possible in collaboration with NMC.
Breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer. It has been part of SUC’s CSR initiatives to raise awareness about breast cancer.

Skyline University College and The Young Vision have registered around 300 students for this year’s Young Business Talent Hunt (YBTH). Over 30 schools from across the UAE participated in the three-day event which ran from October 14 until 16, 2019 at SUC campus. Students competed in different categories: Advertisement Design, Proposal for New Business, Proposal for New Mobile Application, Travel & Tourism, and Innovation. The winners received trophies, medals, vouchers, and scholarship grants.
The Young Business Talent Hunt is an annual event that aims to discover potential young talents and encourage students to think outside of the box, keep on looking for challenges and opportunities where they can develop their confidence and abilities, cultivate their entrepreneurial spirit, and hone their business acumen.
To all the participants, may your experiences in YBTH 2019 encourage you to pursue your entrepreneurial goals. Thank you all for giving your best in the competition and thank you also to your schools and teachers for their support.

Skyline University College received an appreciation award for its participation at the National Services Exhibition in Abu Dhabi from the 13th until the 15th of October. H.E brigadier Obaid Al Mansouri, representing H.E. Shikeh Ahmed Bin Tahnon Al Nhayan who is the Chairman of the National Services Authority, presented the award and expressed his appreciation for Skyline University’s contribution, cooperation, and continued support to the national service members.
One of SUC’s special guests at the exhibition was H.E. Samuel Tan, Singapore's Ambassador to the UAE. The Skyline team introduced him to the programs of SUC in its School of Business and School of IT. Mr. Firas Al Tabbaa, Deputy Director for Public and Government Relations, along with other executives from SUC, extended an invitation to him to visit the campus.

To improve employee engagement and inculcate the spirit of teamwork at SUC, the Human Resource Department organized a cricket match for its Happy Hour activity on October 10, 2019.
The Happy Hour is a weekly activity at SUC to improve camaraderie among employees and incorporate fun into the workplace.
