Skyline University College's faculty members are regularly inviting guest speakers so students can hear new ideas and points-of-view. What students learn from the talks provide them with potential resources that they can use later on.
SUC faculty member, Dr. Hassan Al-Dhaafri recently invited Mr. Hassan Al Juaidi, Managing Director of Rel-i Management Consultants to talk about “HR Planning.” Mr. Al Juaidi discussed the processes involved in human resource planning and the resources required for companies to reach their goals.

The male students of Dr. Sharon Dreisbach’s Organizational Behavior class went for an educational visit at the Prime Geoscience Testing Laboratory in Dubai. Dr. Mary Jane Alvero, the Group Chief Executive Officer and Ms. Molly Tuazon Santos welcomed the students.
The students were given an opportunity to observe and learn about the company’s Chemical Department that includes construction material chemical testing, food analysis section (Halal Food), environmental monitoring section, and microbiology analysis section in a lecture given by Engr. Allan Eugene Canoy, the Group Quality Assurance Manager. The students were accompanied by faculty members Dr. Ramakrishna Yanamandra and Dr. Petr Svoboda.
Skyline University College organized regular industry visits to introduce students to various industries so they are more prepared for the professional world.
Exposing students to various sectors early on is one of the ways Skyline University College prepares students for the professional world. In line with this, the Organizational Behavior Class of Dr. Sharon Dreisbach went for an educational visit to Dusit Thani Hotel in Dubai recently. The students learned about the business concept of the hospitality industry, specifically about the hotels in a lecture conducted by Ms. Swati Anand, Learning and Development Manager of the hotel. HR Director, Ms. Vagelyn Tumbaga Federico also gave a talk on the importance of self-motivation in becoming a great leader and she shared practical tips for thriving in a culturally diverse environment.
To drive employee engagement and build workplace camaraderie, SUC’s Human Resource Department (HRD) organizes the weekly Happy Hour Activity.
Today, HRD held a volleyball match for faculty members and staff.

Fifty-three Skyline students participated in the interactive workshop conducted by INJAZ in Dubai recently. The students were given exercised-based activities on entrepreneurship and a lecture on building a successful startup. The Skyline team was welcomed by Ms. Razan, the CEO of INJAZ, UAE. Mr. Sajeev Srivastav, CEO of International Marbles LLC (who is a graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University, USA), along with the volunteers from Goldman Sachs, Dubai Office, mentored the students.
At the end of the workshop, the students learned some tips on how to work under pressure, identify opportunities, pitch, and prepare a business plan.

Recently, Skyline faculty member, Dr. Mohit Vij invited Mr. Zaim Muhammad, Joint Business Partner of Travel Counsellors, LLC, to give a lecture to his class on tourism and hospitality. Mr. Muhammad discussed how technology creates impact on the tourism industry and gave insights on future employment opportunities. In his talk, he advised students to get the most out of their university years and find meaningful internships so they can obtain better career opportunities after graduation.

Employee engagement is one of the keys for a company to achieve company goals. In line with this, the Skyline management regularly organizes events and activities for staff to have time to relax, have fun, and enjoy the spirit of friendship.
The Skyline family spent relaxing days by the sea during the Staff Picnic 2019 which was held from March 27 to March 28 at InterContinental Fujairah Resort. SUC HR Department organized fun games for the employees as well as for their families. There were Tambola games for the staff and dancing competition for the kids. The winners of SUC’s Fitness Challenge were also announced with the 1st prize winner, Mr. Anish Joy from the IR and QA Department, receiving an international trip for two and the runners up winning fitness equipment, gadgets and vouchers as consolation prizes. The employees held a celebration for the March birthday celebrants. They also enjoyed dancing.
SUC HR Department is grateful for all the energetic participation of the faculty, staff, and their respective families.
Recently, Skyline University College (SUC) conducted a one-day workshop on the following areas: Leadership Development - Accelerating the Careers of High Potential Leaders, Perception Strategy - Perception to Opportunity, and Block Chain Technologies - Business Innovation and Application.
Professionals from the government, academic institutions, and the corporate environment participated in the workshop conducted by Dr. Deepak Kalra, Head of Academics - School of IT; Dr. Ajith Kumar, Head of Academics - School of Business; and Ms. Salin Amanda Louis, Lead Perception Strategist.
Through workshops like this, Skyline University College further enhances the knowledge and develop the skills of professionals so they can successfully adapt to the changing demands of life and work.

Dr. Sharon Mendoza Dreisbach and Dr. Peter Dr. Petr Svoboda invited industry leaders to their class for an Organization Behavior seminar: Dr. Catherine Baird, Senior Vice President Cabin Crew Training, Emirates Airlines; Dr. Donatella Tosi, Psychologist and CEO of her own Educational Consultancy Company at Dubai Creative Cluster Authority; Mr. Faisal Bin Sanad Al Shami, Director, Strategic Planning and Business Development Labour Standards Development Authority, Government of Sharjah; and Dr. Wafa Qasimieh, Senior Executive Culture Consultant, IACAD, Government of Dubai.
The guest speakers talked about the role of leadership in managing culture for employee engagement and productivity. They also gave tips on how to handle stress in a diverse and multicultural workplace.

To raise awareness about the importance of water and also bring to light the water crisis in some parts of the world, Skyline University College (SUC) organized a celebration of UN World Water Day on March 21, 2019 at Al Majaz Park, Event Area, Sharjah.
SUC organized various activities such as poster design, recycling craft, water rationing exercise/water animation, and skit competitions. One of the highlights of the event was when kids pledged to conserve water by making every drop count.
Keeping in mind this year's theme “Leaving No One Behind,” let's all unite to conserve water and promote sustainable consumption of the earth's resources to prevent water scarcity and other environmental crises.
