By venturing into the car repair business, an industry that has long been dominated by men, Huda al-Matroushi breaks gender stereotypes and has become an inspiration to many women.
Mr. Nitin Anand, Vice-Chairman of SUC and Chairman of its Executive Council, Mr. Rakesh Gaur, Director of Marketing and Communications, welcomed and congratulated alumna Ms. Huda Al Matroushi (Master of Business Administration with Emphasis on Strategic Management and Leadership, 2020) at the campus on May 19, 2021. The executives of SUC wished Huda success in her future endeavors.

Skyline University College, through its Community Services Committee, has been conducting outreach activities at the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Dubai (POLO Dubai) for several years now.
This year, despite the pandemic, nothing can stop us from reaching out and helping women housed in POLO-Dubai. On that note, SUC organized a month-long event in time for Women’s Month. On the theme "Spreading Love through Education,” SUC employees shared their practical knowledge and donated grocery essentials to the women in POLO-Dubai.
Faculty member Dr. Taleb Bilal Eli, shared an inspirational message to the attendees during the opening ceremony on March 5, 2021. Atty. Felicitas Bay, Philippine Labor Attaché to Dubai and the Northern Emirates, expressed her gratitude to the SUC community for organizing the event during the virtual closing ceremony held on March 26, 2021.
The Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai won the trophy during the 5th Diplomat Cricket Championship held on January 29 and 30 at the Skyline University College Cricket Ground, Sharjah.
During the semi-finals, South African Consulate team beat the Indian Consulate team by seven wickets. The other match was played between the Pakistan consulate team and the Bangladeshi Consulate team, in which the Pakistan team won by 14 runs. During the final match, the Pakistan Consulate team won against the South African consulate by 59 runs and lifted the trophy.
Skyline University College would like to thank the participating teams – Consulate of India, Consulate of Pakistan, Consulate of South Africa, Consulate of the USA, Consulate of Afghanistan, Consulate of Sri Lanka, Consulate of Bangladesh, and Consulate of Australia – for giving us thrilling matches these past two days. We’d also like to express our appreciation to the Consul Generals for their support through the five years of the Diplomat Cricket Championship.

A corner of SUC’s library has been taken up by a new staff. Her name is Alexa!
With social distancing measures in effect, Alexa was welcomed by the SUC family in an inauguration ceremony spearheaded by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mohammad In’airat.
Skyline’s Alexa Corner enables students to easily access information about the facilities and services that the library provides. Right now, Alexa can answer various campus-related questions, bring the latest news, give encouragement with its daily quotes, play music, or even crack a joke or two for students who need a good laugh.
Alexa’s skills and responses will be continuously updated to better assist students in various tasks such as book-searching and news retrieval.
Skyline University College is always keen to contribute to the growth of the UAE, particularly through education. Hence, it has been encouraging its faculty members and students to be active in webinars and virtual activities that aim to educate.
We are thankful to the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) for acknowledging that effort by appreciating Dr. Mohit Vij, faculty member, for his participation as the moderator for a virtual session in Sharjah Hospitality Forum 2020.

Mr. Nitin Anand, Vice-Chairman and Chair of the Executive Council (COEC) of Skyline University College, along with Mr. Firas Al Tabbaa, Deputy Director for Government and Public Relations, paid a courtesy visit to the Government of Sharjah’s Department of Government Relations today, January 11, 2021. The executives of Skyline met with H.E. Shaikh Majid Al Qasimi, Executive Director of the Department of Government Relations, for a general meeting and discussion on possible collaborations that will benefit both parties and students.
SUC continues to strengthen its government alliances to reach its goal of delivering quality education in the MENA region.
SUC faculty member, Dr. Sharon Mendoza-Dreisbach, was one of the keynote speakers during the recent Global Women Empowerment Summit held in Dubai. The event which was attended by speakers and authors from the UAE, UK, Germany, Italy, Cuba, Peru, Philippines, and Kenya, included a panel discussion of women CEOs. On the theme, “Defying the Odds…..Standing as One,” Dr. Dreisbach shared her experience of surviving cancer. The event’s keynote speaker was Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairperson of Sheikha Jawaher Bint Khalifa Al Khalifa Foundation for Youth and member of the Board of Trustees of the World Youth Business Club.
One of the highlights of the event was the Pink Runway, a fashion show showcasing the works of three different UAE-based designers modeled by ten breast cancer patients and survivors including Dr. Dreisbach.

Skyline’s Guest Lecture is a platform to expose students to the real business environment.
In the recent SUC Guest Lecture, Operations Management students learned insights on the role and importance of operations function in every organization from Mr. Nilay Gosavi, Logistics and Procurement Head, PHOENIX CONTACT Middle East FZ LLC, Dubai. Mr. Gosavi gave a talk on the topic of "Designing Effective Processes.”
On behalf of Skyline University College, Dr. Taleb Eli and Dr. Mohit Vij, faculty members, and Mr. Sheik Maiden, Head of the Library Department, participated in the book signing activities during the International Book Fair at the Expo Centre Sharjah. They were able to meet Dr. Mohammad Omran Trim Al Shamsi, the author of the book "A Reading of Sultan Al Qasimi's Historical Writings" and Dr. Eli received a copy from the author. Dr. Vij, on the other hand, met with Dr. Salem Al-Tunaiji, author of “Popular Heritage Studies – Sharia.”

Mr. Aditya Kaushik, Head of IT in Adyard Abu Dhabi LLC, recently delivered a virtual Guest Lecture to Skyline students on the topic “Successful Management of Projects.” Mr. Kaushik shared his knowledge on the strategies in developing a project plan, risk management plan, managing scope creep, developing Work Breakdown Schedule (WBS), inspiring project leadership to manage projects successfully.
The Guest Lecture is a platform where students are exposed to the trends and industry insights to enrich their knowledge and skills.
