Emotional Intelligence Workshop for Academic Support Services

We’re on the cusp of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, also called the Industry 4.0. In a few years from now, the rapid technological development will take robotics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to an advanced level. With this, 35% of the skills that are valued in today’s industry will change. It seems ironic, but researchers say that in that future workplace dominated by sentient robots, Emotional Intelligence (EI) will matter more than ever. The World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report states that emotional intelligence will be one of the top 10 job skills in the near future.

At SUC, we are aware of the importance of EI in the workplace. This skill allows higher levels of motivation in employees, leading to improved self-confidence and productivity. Hence, SUC is organizing a regular Emotional Intelligence workshop for its faculty and staff.

On December 11, 2018, Dr. Amitabh Upadhya, SUC’s Director for Outreach and Accreditation, conducted an EI workshop for the academic support employees. Dr. Upadhya discussed the EI competencies that are the core of effective workplace relationships and efficiency.
